Ever since I was a child, I have been involved in various charity works. In school and at church, we always had outreach programs. Helping others has always been heartwarming and inspiring, but being on the receiving end of such help is truly life-changing.
Once, my family and I experienced an accident that permanently altered our lives. It was an incredibly challenging time, but the support we received from others made me appreciate life even more. I am immensely grateful to those who were there for us, and their kindness inspired me to do the same for others. What might have seemed like a small gesture to them gave me the hope and strength to stay happy despite the challenges. This experience motivated me to join Ka-Agapay Philippines Inc.
Initially, I thought Ka-Agapay would be similar to other outreach programs. However, as we began our work, I realized that Ka-Agapay Philippines Inc. is different. Our mission focuses on sustainability. We aim to transform the lives of those in need not by providing temporary relief but by supporting them until they achieve their dreams.
Joining an organization is easy, but staying committed and keeping your passion alive is challenging. There are times when I feel exhausted because giving yourself to others is not easy. As the saying goes, “How can you give what you do not have?” There are moments when loving myself is hard, let alone giving love to others. However, every time I see the kids, grandparents, and PWDs we help, my passion reignites. I realized that being part of Ka-Agapay is not just about giving to others; it’s also about receiving a part of them. The love and appreciation they show make my life more meaningful.
I remember attending a mass once when a child suddenly hugged me. It turned out she was one of the kids we were helping. The happiness I felt from that simple hug was indescribable. Every time I recall that moment, I feel motivated and happy. I hope others can experience the same joy I do. I hope that whenever someone meets me, they can be inspired by my journey, a dream that is now achievable because of Ka-Agapay.
